Jamaican culture highlights new Rihanna video
Bajan-born superstar Rihanna’s has dropped the video for Work, the lead single from her new album ANTI. Well, she’s actually dropped two videos, the first taking place at a ‘session’ of sorts and the second in front of a sofa. Puppy Tail and Tek Weh Yuhself also feature in the video, along with the smoking of marijuana.
The first video features Drake, and also a whole lot of Jamaican culture. It seems to have been shot in Toronto, an area with very Jamaicanized slangs and culture.
From Red Stripe Beer, whining, to Drake saying ‘yuh need fi fahwud’ the video could have very well taken place at a Jamaican dancehall party.
Rihanna sports a rasta-coloured (red, green, and gold) mesh dress and turns up with Drake at a restaurant called The Real Jerk, which has a sign also sporting rasta colours. Jerk chicken can be seen being made in various clips.
