FRESH from her win at Saturday’s Youth View Awards (YVAs), singjay Ishawna is busy promoting her new songs: Long Fingernail, A Bay and Social Media.

“We are putting in a lot of work and I am currently working with several international producers and writers, a few of whom are from London and Los Angeles. I am just trying to hit a lot of bases,” she told the Jamaica Observer.

The Downsound Records artiste took home two awards at the YVAs, held at the National Indoor Sports Centre in St Andrew. She won the Young Hot & Hype Female and Favourite Fashion Icon Female categories.

“It’s a good feeling to know that the work that I am putting in is appreciated. I am really grateful to the fans that saw me fit for both categories,” said Ishawna.

The past 18 months have been a roller-coaster ride for the saucy artiste. Her split from lover, selector/producer Foota Hype, went public and descended into a verbal sparring match.

Nevertheless, she made musical strides with singles such as Vroom Vroom, Oola La la, Cheerful Giver and Restraining Order.

She is scheduled to appear on the BritJam Festival in Montego Bay on March 11.
