Emily Shields dismisses talks of husband in JLP Cabinet
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Radio talk show host and attorney-at-law Emily Shields has dismissed rumours that her husband, former Deputy Commissioner of Police Mark Shields, is set to be appointed as the next minister of national security.
“My husband has no affiliation to any political party, neither do I. He has not been asked nor does he wish to become a member of the Senate,” Shields said on Thursday. “He has not been asked, neither does he wish to become a minister of national security.”
Sheilds said the rumours were at their core, lies.
She was responding to questions posed by a caller to her radio programme, Hotline, on RJR.
Mark Shields served as deputy commissioner of police for the Jamaica Constabulary Force between 2005 and 2009.
He is a British law enforcement officer who also gave nearly three decades of service to the Essex Police and Scotland Yard before moving to Jamaica.
