Subaran emerged top marskman at Spectrum shoot
David Subaran emerged top marksman at the Spectrum Systems Limited Sporting Clays Championship at Knolford Polo Ranch in St Catherine on Sunday.
Subaran topped a field of 102 compettiors shooting an impressive 86 of 100 targets to end as the High Overall winner, getting the better of Bruce DuQuesnay, who also shot a score of 86 in an intense shoot-off.
Brett Thwaites, with a score of 84, topped the A class ahead of Robert Yap Too with 83. Defending National Shotgun Champion Christian Sasso was third with a score of 82.
Following a competitive stint at the Gator Cup in Florida prior to the Spectrum Championhsip, a number of shooters, including DuQuesbay, enjoyed a rich vein of form and had high hopes of mastering the 16-station course which presented some intriguingly challenging targets.
By all indications, it was a fun-filled yet below par day for the shooters in all classes as many were left cursing their luck, with at least one claiming, “I should have shot more”.
However, there was no stopping the shine of the respective class winners who kept an eye on the target and went on to top the podium.
Brett Thwaites shot a score of 84 to top the A class and Andrew Hopwood (82) claimed the B class, while young marksman Zachary Chen (81) finished top in the C and junior classes and earned himself a promotion to B class.
Matthew Josephs also earned a promotion to the C class after topping the D class with a score of 79, so did Ryan Chen to the D class after shooting a score of 66 to finish tops in the E class. Tej Banhan(67) and Alex Cunningham(64) were both promoted to the E class after finishing first and second respectively in the H class.
Meanwhile, Roman Tavares Finson was the top sub-junior shooter with a score of 67, while Isabelle Chin (58) was the top female shooter.
All promotions will take effect at the NCBCM Sporting shoot at Woodleigh on March 13, a week after the AISK ClayFeva at the Jamaica Skeet Club (JSC) in Portmore. The JSC Annual General Meeting (AGM) will follow on March 20, when a special course will be set.
The Spectrum Systems Limited shoot was sponsored by Knolford Polo Ranch, Rum Bar, Wisynco and KIG.
