Ja Praise Chorale marks milestone
JAMAICA Praise Chorale (JPC) will be celebrating its second anniversary with performances during Easter.
The chorale’s first assignment will be at Bank of Jamaica’s free monthly Lunch Hour Concert series in downtown Kingston, tomorrow, at 12:30 pm.
This will be followed by an Easter Cantata, Rejoice Di Messiah Lives, at the Boulevard Baptist Church, 2 Washington Boulevard, Kingston 20, on Easter Sunday, March 27. Starting time is 6:00 pm.
The cantata, which will portray the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, is written by the chorale’s musical director, Ian Hird.
“The songs are scriptures set to music… Our songs are all original and we’ll be performing about 24 songs,” Len Davidson, member of Jamaica Praise Chorale’s management committee, told Jamaica Observer.
“Patrons attending should expect to be wowed by the chorale. It’ll be a captivating evening of great original music that’ll keep them on their toes.”
In addition to the chorale’s original compositions, selected Easter favourites by The Boulevard Baptist Church Choir will also be performed.
“The Boulevard Baptist Church Choir is a well-recognised church choir and they are led by the competent Joseph McIntyre,” said Davidson.
Started in 2013, the Jamaica Praise Chorale is an inter-denominational group, with up to 25 singers and musicians.
