Therapedic Caribbean, a member of the Morgans Group, has signed a $40-million contract with Gran Bahia Principe Hotel, Runaway Bay, to supply an exclusive sleep system dubbed the ‘Dream Suite Pillow-top By Therapedic’ for the 455 rooms in the hotel’s current expansion programme.

The mattresses were produced and ready for delivery within six weeks.

Therapedic Caribbean also supplied all the sleep systems for the initial phase of the hotel, which was opened in 2004. This new expansion project brings the Gran Bahia Principe hotel room count to 1,375 rooms.

“Since that time, the Gran Bahia Principe team has continued to show great commitment and confidence in our abilities to supply a high-quality product at competitive prices…and to deadline. This confidence has not only significantly increased the business we do with them, but has been widened to include such sleep product offerings as pillows, mattress protectors and mattress converters,” said Aswad Morgan, director of Therapedic Caribbean.

“The commitment by Gran Bahia Principe to buy our products is a testimony to the fact that once a Jamaican entity operates at a high professional level, provides strong product quality and meets strict deadlines, it can score big with even the large international hotels. We are proud of the fact that we have been able to build a very strong reputation as the ‘go- to’ people for bedding,” Morgan continued.

“Therapedic Caribbean has been a long-standing supplier of bedding systems to our hotel because of the team’s outstanding efficiencies in delivery, their proven product quality and ability to manufacture a wide range of luxury products in Jamaica. Our guests have commented favourably on the mattresses we offer in our rooms. It’s been a pleasure doing business with them,” said Gustavo Arroyo, project manager for Gran Bahia Principe construction.

Therapedic Caribbean was established in 1984 as a licensee of Therapedic International, which is among the top-five largest bedding producers in the world, with more than 60 factories worldwide. All the locally produced sleep products are manufactured at its state-of-the art, 40,000 -square foot production facility at the JIDC Complex, Naggo Head, Portmore, St Catherine.

Today, Therapedic Caribbean is one of the most successful suppliers of bedding to the hospitality sector, especially since the start of the entry into the island of the Spanish hotels in 1999. Since then, the local bedding manufacturer has been awarded supply contracts for RIU Tropical Bay in Negril, Secrets Resorts, Half Moon Resort & Spa, Palmyra Resort & Spa, Jewel Resorts, Decameron Hotels, Melia Braco Village, Hedonism II, Golden Eye Resort and Royalton White Sands & Negril, among several others.
