Marketing representatives for the 228-room Royalton Blue Waters resort on the north coast are billing it as “a brand new” hotel which is now open for booking.

Blue Waters sits on lands adjacent to Royalton White Sands on White Bay in Trelawny, near Montego Bay. The hotel will take its first guests in November of this year. The construction cost was not shared.

Blue Diamond Hotels & Resorts, owned by Canadian tour company Sunwing, acquired the former Starfish Trelawny Resort & Spa hotel from the SuperClubs resort group in 2012 and branded it Royalton White Sands.

Some US$50 million was invested in the upgrade. In 2013, it also acquired another SuperClubs property, Breezes Negril Resort & Spa.

Enrico Pezzoli is general manager of Royalton Luxury Resorts in Jamaica.

A representative of the countrytold the Jamaica Observer that Royalton Negril, with 407 rooms, is currently under construction and was previously Grand Lido. She said there will also be an adults-only Hideaway at Royalton Negril on the 166-room property — bringing the total number of Royalton Luxury Resorts in Jamaica up to three.

For Royalton Blue Waters, guest rooms are described as elegantly decorated with high thread count sheets, in-suite double-headed rain showers and Jacuzzis, plus a choice of balcony-views of the ocean or exclusive swim-out pools where you can enjoy the tropical breeze in privacy.

“Modern features are offered by All-in Connectivity™, including unlimited free long-distance calls to North America and parts of Europe from your suite and complimentary Wi-Fi resort-wide,” the release announcing the November opening said.

New amenities at Royalton Blue Waters will include a relaxing lazy river and private poolside cabanas. The hotel has 11 restaurants. It was not indicated if these are shared with the Royalton Property next door.

Blue Diamond is a hotel management company with differentiated brands to suit each market’s demands, the company notes on its website, where it also indicates that it currently operates more than 5,000 rooms in all-inclusive resorts in six Caribbean destinations under the Memories Resorts & Spa, Royalton Luxury Resorts, and Grand Lido brands.
