Beaches Negril into Western Confed semi-finals
NEGRIL, Westmoreland — Beaches Negril confirmed their place in the semi-final of the Jamaica Football Federation’s Charley’s JB Rum Western Confederation Super League on Saturday after edging relegated Lucea FC 1-0 in a rescheduled third-round game at the Long Bay Beach Park in Negril.
Kemar Dawkins scored the winner in the 75th minute as Lucea FC, despite having nothing to play for, put up a good show, but could not deny Beaches Negril their first-ever trip to the semi-finals.
The win took Beaches Negril into the top four, marginally ahead of Clark’s Town FC on goal difference after both team finished on 28 points.
Beaches Negril, in their second season in the competition, had a goal difference of eight to Clark’s Town’s seven and join Granville FC, Wadadah FC, and Sandals Whitehouse in the semi-finals.
They will meet Granville FC in one semi-final, while Wadadah FC and Sandals Whitehouse will meet in the other on April 10 and 17, with the winners on aggregate meeting in the final set for May 1.
