Light conversation turned to friendship, courtship, and, as fate would have it, to marriage. Ministry of Health Public Health Inspector Kara-Sue Nelson wed Shipowners’ P&I Services Limited Managing Director Errol Williams on December 12, 2015 at The Ruins at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge. Vows has the breakdown: how Kara-Sue and Errol became one.

HOW THEY MET, ACCORDING TO KARA-SUE…

We met during our studies at UTech; Errol was a computing major in his final year when I commenced studies in public health. We were part of the same circle but kept it on a platonic level. In 2009, he graduated and we lost contact. Four years later, one of our mutual friends returned from China and hosted his birthday party that was like a rendezvous for Errol and me. A few weeks later, there was a beach trip to Portland, and being around each other created a seamless chemistry. We started dating soon after.

THE PROPOSAL, ACCORDING TO ERROL WILLIAMS…

On December 31, 2014, after picking up Kara-Sue from work, I told her we would go to the lighthouse at the airport — one of our usual hangout spots – to chill for a bit. I left a rose on the passenger seat, which she was excited to see. When we arrived at the lighthouse, we ventured out on the beach and sat there talking for some time. I told her not to turn around as I reached for the other roses. While she smelled the roses, I went down on one knee and asked her to be my wife.

HERE COMES THE BRIDE…

Toni-Ann Owens spearheaded the New Levels Décor team, which transformed the ruins at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge into a whimsical scene from a fairytale. It was simply ethereal – a theme of deep purple, white and silver with fuchsia accents. Sheer swags with purple flowers lined the pews straight to the 26” x 10” canopy adorned with white curly willows, white hydrangeas with pops of purple flora, and clear crystal beads, which added to the rustic fairytale theme.

More than 75 friends and relatives were in attendance. Musical selections by Nimoy Burrowes preceded the bridal party processional to the strains of Pachelbel’s

Canon in D Major. Heads turned as the tune ofHere Comes the Bride was played. Kara-Sue’s father Ralph Nelson escorted her up the aisle to meet Errol, who wore a grey Michael Kors suit, white shirt and a fuchsia tie with a dendrobium orchid boutonnière. She wore a Pronovias A-line dress from Bliss Bridal Boutique — a soft, strapless design belted with a gem-encrusted satin obi band and complemented by an elbow-length veil. Her curly hair was pulled back in a loose bun, and dotted with pearl and rhinestone hairpins. Minister Dennis Morrison officiated the ceremony and had Kara-Sue and Errol reciting their vows and exchanging wedding rings in no time. The newly-weds left the altar to the sound of Natalie Cole’s This Will Be (An Everlasting Love).

LET’S MAKE MEMORIES…

Guests enjoyed cocktails and conversation in the Blue Room at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge while the bridal party had a photo session with the Marcia E Roberts photography team. The purple and silver theme followed through to the reception. Tabletops bore mirror-based centrepieces with orchids submerged in cylindrical vases and surrounded by votive candles. The colours of the head table backdrop were white and silver; white draping and crystal curtains brought the EK monogram to life. The ambience was just as magical as the ceremony; another nod to the New Levels Décor team.

The reception was a gamut of emotions, ranging from the heartfelt toasts to the cheerful newly-weds’ games for which Kara-Sue and Errol both scored perfect tens. Emcee Kevin Bailey also did an excellent job of keeping the guests entertained and maintaining the evening’s celebratory tone. Errol and Kara-Sue cut their five-tiered vanilla cake with blueberry filling and fruitcake by Camille Flinn of Cake Couture Jamaica, then waltzed onto the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife to a medley of:

All Of Me by John Legend,Go Dung by Lil Rick featuring Machel Montano, and The Best by Sekon Sta. Errol and Kara-Sue’s wedding night started at Couples Tower Isle resort. The two are planning an ‘official’ honeymoon to Spain this summer.
