Captain of Jamaica’s netball team which participated in the last World Championships held in Australia in August 2015, Nicole Aiken-Pinnock is now comfortably nestled in the cool climes of Moneague, in St Ann.

Aiken-Pinnock was, for a long while a student and teacher at G C Foster College in Spanish Town, St Catherine. She made the move last September to The Moneague College where she is the athletic director, lecturer and a coach.

As a result of the move from G C Foster to The Moneague College, Aiken-Pinnock’s netball activities have been curtailed, but she emphasised that her playing days are not over as yet.

“I am still playing netball but not in training with the national team. I have reunited with my former coach Winston Nevers at Jamalco which, for me, is quite exciting.

“Being here at The Moneague College working, and on the last lap of completing my Master’s degree, makes it very difficult for me to train in Kingston. The journey is much longer and it is very expensive, but I am in dialogue with Netball Jamaica and the new president and hopefully, something regarding transportation can be worked out. I am waiting and hoping that something can be worked out,” Aiken-Pinnock told Jamaica Observer North and East.

She explained that while netball has been her passion from her early days in school, if nothing can be arranged she will have to deal with the situation with a focused eye on her future development.

“I am really hopeful that things will work out but if not, I will have to adjust and make the decisions necessary to move forward. It may well mean playing netball locally and not on the international stage,” she said.

As to dealing with life at The Moneague College, Aiken- Pinnock with a huge smile on her face, said she is very happy.

“The Moneague family has been brilliant. The principal has given me tremendous encouragement-for which I am very grateful, while the other members of staff have accepted me and have really helped to make my time thus far at The Moneague College a very rewarding experience. I am very grateful for the assistance as I continue to share my knowledge with young Jamaicans,” Aiken-Pinnock said.
