GERMAN sound system Jugglerz is on a musical high with their album, Jugglerz City, which entered at number six on the Top 10 Billboard Reggae album charts last week.

“This has been the culmination of a four-year journey. This feels great to know that we are doing authentic music, we put together an album with dancehall, reggae, acoustic drums, roots rock, and it has been accepted by real reggae lovers and non-hardcore fans all over the world,” said Paul ‘Shotta Paul’ Spurny.

Produced on the Jugglerz Records label, the album features 21 tracks of reggae artistes from the United Kingdom, Latin America, the Dutch Antilles, and the Caribbean. Some of the featured acts include Christopher Martin, I-Octane, German reggae artiste Miwata, and dancehall act Charly Black.

The project’s conceptualisers, Martin ‘DJ Meska’ Willumeit and Spurny are known for their skills as reggae sound system selectors.

“This is very gratifying because we keep it authentic. We don’t do reggae-influenced rhythms, we keep it original. We fight for reggae, we keep the artform alive. We bring in reggae acts to perform in Europe. We give back to the industry so this is a great reward for us,” said DJ Meska.

Other singles include J Boog’s Worth My Time, I-Octane’s Everywhere We Go and Money is the Motive by Etana featuring Beenie Man.

Jugglerz sound system last played in Jamaica in 2014. During that gig, it defeated Tony Matterhorn at Dream Weekend in Negril.

“We always love playing in Jamaica, it is a special place. When we play all over the world, we keep it hardcore, we turn boos into forwards nuff time because the fans recognise that we are authentic,” said Spurny.

The Stuttgart-based outfit is considered one of Europe’s top sound systems. It was voted ‘Best Sound National’ by the readers of German RIDDIM Magazine in 2013 and 2014. Last year, Jugglerz won the War Ina East Soundclash 2015 against Black Chiney from Florida.
