Rio Bueno make it eight straight
DANIEL TOWN, Trelawny — Rio Bueno FC’s trickle has turned into a virtual flood as they continued to breeze through the Trelawny Football Association Monymusk Plantation Major League after beating Daniel Town 2-1 on Saturday for their eighth-straight victory since earning promotion.
Dwayne Brown’s brace, one in each half, gave Rio Bueno FC the victory in the battle of the promoted teams.
Rio Bueno FC were third last season, behind Fire FC and Daniel Town who contested the final, but have been the best team so far, leading Zone Two with a perfect 24 points and have scored 28 goals so far, the best by double figures, with the next best being 13 goals scored by three other clubs.
Also on Saturday, Baca Star United and Harmony FC played out a 1-1 draw at Elleston Wakeland Youth Centre (EWYC) in Falmouth, while Classic United failed to show for their game against Coopers Pen and the Competitions Committee will meet to decide the fate of that game.
At Daniel Town, Brown who was scoring for the first time this season, the ninth Rio Bueno player to score this season, scored in the 20th and 47th minutes, while Darios Brown had levelled the scores in the 42nd minute as the teams went to the break tied at 1-1.
At EWYC, both goals came in the last eight minutes as Shane Brown scored from the penalty spot to give Baca Star United the lead in the 82nd minute, but Ronaldo Shreeves got the equaliser two minutes later as the teams shared the points.
On Sunday, Holland United, who were relegated from the Western Confederation Super League last season, won back-to-back games for the first time this season, beating Kinloss FC 4-2 at Elleston Wakeland.
The win pushed Holland United to 11 points, tied with two other clubs, including Kinloss, for joint second place.
An own goal and a brace in three minutes from Hugh-George Watson gave Holland United a 3-0 lead after just seven minutes.
Reno Edmonson also scored for Holland United, his second in successive games, while Rajay Cole and Gervent Dixon scored for Kinloss FC.
