NWC pipe laying project forces Ashenheim Road traffic diversion
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Water Commission (NWC) is advising the public that emergency remedial works on the Ashenheim Road sewer line in Kingston will result in unavoidable traffic diversions and delays in that area of the city.
According to a press release this afternoon, the emergency work is aimed at correcting a fault to the sewer main along a section of Ashenheim Road in Kingston 11.
It involves trench excavation in the roadway to facilitate the replacement and laying of approximately 85 metres of pipes along the section of the road.
The company said there will be an unavoidable closure of a section of Ashenheim Road extending from its intersection with Development and East Ashenheim roads to the vicinity of the overhead bridge, for the duration of the works.
Water supply service may also be disrupted from time to time, NWC said.
The emergency work forms part of efforts to improve sewage conveyance in the Corporate Area, to reduce sewage overflows and other inconveniences, NWC added.
The work is scheduled to last from Monday, April 25 to May 27.
