36-y-o faces fraud charges after failing to deliver promised car
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Detectives attached to the Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Branch (C-TOC) arrested and charged 36-year-old Marlon Smith of Lirico Way, Waterford, St Catherine, with fraudulent conversion on Friday, April 15.
Reports are that between April 2014 and July 2014, Smith was paid J$321,000 to purchase a motor car on behalf of the complainant.
It is alleged that Smith promised to deliver the motor vehicle within three months to the complainant, however he failed to do so.
The police say a report was made to the Fraud Squad and following investigations, Smith was arrested and charged.
He is scheduled to appear before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, April 26.
