Can I find my phone using the IMEI number?
Locating your phone with just its IMEI number isn’t a simple process. In some cases, the police can work together with your telecommunications provider to locate it using its IMEI number, but its not a smooth process.
A more realistic approach is to have your service provider block your phone so that no one can use it to make calls, send texts, or use the web. You could also try using Google Map’s location history — now called ‘timeline’ — to track your stolen Android phone, even if it’s turned off.
To do this, the location reporting and location history need to be activated on your device via settings in your smartphone. However, your timeline only uses cell tower IDs and Wi-Fi location detection to collect location data. This means the accuracy can vary significantly.
