Molynes ‘C’, Rivoli, Police, Liguanea, Boulevard Baptist take lead in Sunshine Cereals Intermediate League

MOLYNES United ‘C’, along with Rivoli United, Liguanea, and Boulevard Baptist are the early leaders in their respective zones in the 2016 Netball Jamaica/Sunshine Cereals Intermediate League Competition after four rounds played at the Leila Robinson Courts.

Molynes ‘C’, coached by Roy Pryce, lead Zone One with 12 points from four wins from as many starts. They are followed by Friendship with nine points from three wins from three starts.

Rivoli United, coached by Terrence Peart, and Police, coached by Joan Benjamin, are joint leaders of Zone Two with 12 points each from four wins from four matches, while Jamaica Defence Force and Hampshire are jointly third with six points each from four games.

The Sylvester Campbell-coached Liguanea United lead Zone Three with 12 points from four wins from four outings, followed jointly by Ebony Strikers and Alexander Strikers with six points each from four starts. Also on six points are Red Challenge and Westchester ‘A’. These four teams will be battling for second place for a berth in the quarter-finals knockout.

Boulevard Baptist, who are coached by Shawn Murdock, have the lead in Zone Four with 12 points from four wins, with EXED Saints in second place on nine points from four games. Mico ‘C’ and Leiba Gardens are jointly on six points.

Meanwhile, Keisha Prince, brand manager for Sunshine Cereals, Confectionery and Snacks Jamaica Limited is elated to be part of this important competition.

Prince presented the Sunshine Cereals sponsorship cheque of $550,000 to the president of Netball Jamaica, Dr Paula Daley-Morris at the opening ceremony held recently at the Leila Robinson Courts.

“Sunshine Cereals, as title sponsor for the Intermediate League, this is our second consecutive year of sponsorship, and we are committed to give back to the development of Jamaica and netball, it is one area we are committed to support,” Prince said.

“Last year was indeed a fantastic one and we look forward to a more electrifying season this year. Sunshine Cereals believes the opportunity for partnership with netball is ripe with abundant possibilities, as the competition will positively impact communities and the region at large, as it provides an avenue for players to participate in activities that can enhance upward mobility through many opportunities that exist here in Jamaica,” she added.

She said that Sunshine Cereals’ investment in this competition will definitely give the brand the ability to reach thousands of customers across Jamaica, players and the thousands of weekly spectators who attend the matches.

“We are very proud to be a part of this netball competition, and would like to wish the teams all the best. Remember, the minute you decide to enter as a team, you are a winner. I foresee this partnership with Netball Jamaica will bring a lot more opportunities and knowledge to Netball Jamaica beyond the game,” said Prince.

Meanwhile, the Sunshine Cereals Intermediate League will continue tomorrow with 12 matches, beginning at 3:00 pm.
