Supreme Ventures sales up, but Cash Pot challenged by Money Time
Popular lottery game Cash Pot has suffered a 6.6 per cent decline in sales over the 2014/2015 financial year – in part from the introduction of Supreme Ventures Ltd Money Time game.
The gaming company closed its 2015 financial year with lottery revenue growth of $1.1 billion or a three per cent increase relative to the previous year led by low Cash Pot liabilities and strong performance of the Money Time game.
“Cash Pot continued to be the largest contributor to lottery revenue with $24.6 billion in revenue for 2015. This, however, represented a 6.6 per cent decline in sales relative to the prior year,” said SVL in its 2015 annual report signed by chairman Paul Hoo.
“The decline in sales was attributable in part to the impact of the Money Time game which captured some of Cash Pot’s revenue share,” the report continued.
SVL Group’s net profit after tax totalled $1.18 billion, a 27.3 per cent or $253.8 million increase over the prior year. The improved profit performance was attributable to an 18.7 per cent increase in gross profit which moved to $4.4 billion relative to the $3.7 billion in 2014.
Money Time — launched October 2014 — is the first offering in SVL’s social space suite of games. It takes the format of a one of 38 roulette-style game, with draw intervals at every five minutes.
The new game contributed $4.2 billion in sales for 2015 and represented the second largest share of the lottery portfolio at 11 per cent. Money Time contributed 9.3 per cent to gross profit for the lottery segment and had a dual effect on the portfolio serving to increase revenue as well as reducing liability exposure from the Cash Pot game, the company said.
“The game has been a huge hit with players and had an overall positive effect on the portfolio, attributed in part to the lowering of overall portfolio liability.”
SVL anticipates continued growth of the lottery business in 2016 from product diversification and promotions, and profitability in the sports betting segment. The dominant gaming company is also gearing up to launch its mobile betting platform, implementation of virtual games betting product, and completion of the roll-out of 500 VLT route system machines by year end.
