Timeforarms lands Ren Gonzalves Memorial Cup
The down-in-class Timeforarms , under Bebeto Harvey, proved too strong for rivals as he romped home easily to win the Reynold ‘Ren’ Gonzalves Memorial Cup feature at Caymanas Park yesterday.
Sent off as the 2-1 second favourite in the 2,000-metre Overnight Allowance event, Timeforarms, who was running for the second time this season, took the event with an electrifying run in deep stretch to beat 7-5 favourite Original Train, the mount of Robert Halledeen by two-and-three-quarter lengths. Kiri (Dane Dawkins astride) managed to finish third ahead of Royal Vibes, the mount of Omar Walker.
Trained and part-owned by Fitzroy Glispie along with Gary Lee-Sin, Timeforarms ( Twilight Time – Armsofanangel) got a good break and bounced easily into third position behind Kiri and Rum Punch (Jerome Innis up) going around the club house turn.
The position of the 10 runners remained the same passing the six- furlong marker until Timeforarms challengedKiri for the lead approaching the final bend.
Turning for home on the inside rails, Timeforarms then responded well from the urgings from Harvey and powered home for an emphatic victory.
The winning time was 2:08:3 minutes.
It was the second winner on the card for Harvey as he earlier won aboard Prince O’Shaun in the fourth race.
Also riding two winners was Hakeem Pottinger. Pottinger won aboard 159-1 long shot Director Daley in the eighth race and closed the programme at 6-1 with Two Steps Up.
Racing continues on Wednesday with nine races on offer. First post is scheduled for 12:45 pm.
