Flow hosts CSEC math study session on Twitter tonight
TELECOMS company Flow will be staging an ‘all-nighter’ mathematics study session tonight on social media platform Twitter for students preparing to sit the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) exam tomorrow.
Students will be able to ‘tweet’ in their problems, using the hashtag
#FlowStudyLive, and receive a direct response from a qualified mathematics teacher. The study session will be powered by One-on-One Educational services.
The study session is part of a wider push by Flow to help students prepare for CSEC exams, which began on May 2.
Since yesterday, the company opened access to its newly launched online portal, Flow Study (www.flowstudy.co) to students across the island.
Available online via PCs and smart devices via the Flow Study Android app, the Flow Study portal offers all-day access to video-based online courses, virtual science labs, question banks and solutions, and past paper solutions for over 32 high school subject areas.
The portal will be accessible free of cost for both Flow and non-Flow customers for two weeks, covering the duration of the examination period. Thereafter, the free service will be available for Flow customers via an account number, while non-Flow customers will access the platform via paid subscription.
According to Kayon Wallace, director of corporate communications and stakeholder management, Flow is “revolutionising the learning experience and opening up a realm of possibilities, opportunities and educational success for Jamaican students using technology”.
In explaining the mathematics focus, Wallace said: “The CXC/CSEC mathematics is one of the most important and far-reaching subjects and one with which some students tend to struggle. Our Flow Study partner, One-on-One Educational Services, has for years prepared students for the CSEC mathematics exam, and has maintained a 100 per cent pass rate for the subject among its students, with an average of 83 per cent attaining a grade 1.”
