Jehovah’s Witness Convention opens in Salt Marsh tomorrow
SALT MARSH, Trelawny — Hundreds of members of the Jehovah’s Witness faith are expected to gather at the group’s Assembly Hall in Salt Marsh, Trelawny, tomorrow, for the beginning of a series of three-day regional conventions which will be held under the theme: ‘Remain Loyal to Jehovah!’
The first in the series will end on Sunday, while the others will run consecutively for every weekend after ending June 24-26, according to Leo Reid, a convention spokesman.
He added that the programme will feature presentations and videos, each exploring the theme “loyalty,” and members of the public are invited to attend.
“We strongly believe that loyalty is an essential part of any healthy relationship. Our convention this year features content that will help people develop stronger bonds with friends, family members and, above all, with God. We are confident that all who attend will enjoy this programme,” said David A Semonian, a spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses world headquarters in Brooklyn, New York.
Reid told the Jamaica Observer West that roughly 1,300 Witnesses from the parish of Westmoreland, Hanover, St James, Trelawny and parts of St Ann are expected to be in attendance daily at this weekend’s convention.
“On Friday we will have talks and short videos, learn how Jesus Christ set a perfect example as God’s “loyal one,” while on Saturday we will see what the Bible book of Job teaches us about remaining loyal despite intense suffering,” said Reid.
Sunday, he added, will feature a full-length film, highlighting how King Hezekiah “held fast to Jehovah” while being besieged by his enemies.
