Sundays are a family day with a meal being integral to the various family gatherings. This Sunday, Lisa and I and our two childrens Anthony and Marisol, her dad (Anthony Bell), sister (Wendy Watt), brother-in-Law (Jonothan Watt), nephew (Nigel Watt), my sister (Nicole Lewis) and brother-in-law (Michael Lewis) enjoyed Dim Sum. I strategized by not eating a morsel before our 10:30 a.m. rendezvous in order to optimize my ability to sample all of the many offerings that present themselves at Dim Sum.

Dim Sum is a bit of a ritual for us a few times per year, and although Dim Sum is typically reserved for Sundays and often treated as being “brunch-like”, we often find ourselves ordering Dim Sum on other days of the week from those restaurants that accommodate such cravings.

We sit, eat, drink tea and spin the “Lazy Susan” to identify which dish we wish to eat from moment to moment and everyone is more than content at the end of the experience. My son Anthony especially loves the “Sticky Rice” and the “Pork Bow”. My daughter Marisol is also partial to the “Pork Bow”.

Friday nights are typically a date night for my wife and I. From time to time we double-date with friends on date nights. This Friday past we double-dated with Mel and Debra Spence at Sea Deck. We were a bit tired of visiting our default eateries-of-choice, and decided to check out “Sea Deck” which came highly-recommended by my father-in-law who has visited the establishment with his weekly lunch club dubbed “R.O.M.E.O.”, which is an acronym for “Retired Old Men Eating Out” or “Retired Outstanding Men Eating Out”, the latter being my father-in-law’s preferred interpretation.

We started out with a few appetisers, namely: Fried Cray Fish, Fried Shrimp, Conch Fritters and Saltfish Fritters, the favourites being the Fried Cray Fish followed by the Conch Fritters.

Entrees? Steamed Fish, Brown Stew Fish, Roasted Conch, Jerk Pork Sausage, Fried Bammy, Steamed Bammy and Twice-Fried Green Plantain. All were quite good, with the Roasted Conch taking the lead, and the other dishes arguably in a tight photo finish.

The food is well-priced and a fully-stocked bar is at your disposal.
