Can I RETRACT an email sent in ERROR?
THE first consideration in this situation is the email program that you sent the mail through, for example Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo etc.
There are some of these that offer an option to retract or recall an email. Though the facility exists, there is no guarantee that the recipient will not receive the email.
Users of Gmail, for example, should follow these instructions to activate the UNDO SEND function on their account:
1. Log in to your Gmail account.
2. Click the ‘Settings’ Icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.
3. Choose the ‘Settings’ option.
4. Click the ‘General’ tab.
5. Locate the Setting labelled ‘Undo Send’.
6. Click the checkbox to enable ‘Undo Send’.
7. Click the drop-box to set the ‘Send Cancellation Period’.
8. The options for how long you can delay the delivery are five, 10, 20, or 30 seconds
9. Scroll to the end of the Settings screen and click on the Save the Changes button.
10. Do adequate testing to ensure it is activated and working
