Footloose delivers, again
RETRO party Footloose enjoyed a bumper-sized turnout at the Mas Camp at Stadium North, in St Andrew, recently.
The event, dubbed the ‘Short Shorts Edition’, saw patrons dancing the night away to a wide selection of hits from the 1980s to the early 2000s. Disc jock Arif Cooper and members of his Fresh Team, including Scientist, took patrons on a musical voyage through rock and roll, rhythm and blues, hip hop, dancehall, soca, reggae and dance music.
“We’ve had nothing but positive reviews. People came out with the expectation to dance all night and enjoy themselves and we delivered just that,” promoter Tyrone Dixon of Broadway Productions told the Jamaica Observer.
“This was one of our better executions. We had a few glitches, like any other event, but we managed to pull together almost seamlessly,” he added.
Milton Green, who was visiting from Canada, told the Observer the vibe was great.
“I am from Toronto, Canada, just here on vacation and when my brother told me he was going to Footloose, I wondered what he was talking about. Now that I am here, I have no regrets coming. I am having a great time and the vibes are very nice,” he said.
Maria Anderson from Kingston 20 said Footloose satisfies her musical appetite.
“Whenever I need to have a good time and dance to some old-school music, Footloose is the place for me. I am always here and the music gets sweeter each time,” she said before heading to the bar.
First held in March 2006, Footloose celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. It is held four times annually. The next staging is scheduled for August 27.
