Roots-reggae rules at Bourbon Beach
Roots-reggae and old school dancehall was the order of the evening at the Live At Bourbon Beach show in Negril on May 28.
Promoter Lawrence ‘Jah Mike’ Lugg said the response was encouraging enough for him to consider another show at the club laterthis year.
“We got a nice turnout an’ the vibes was good. It wasn’t bad at all,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
Live At Bourbon Beach was a showcase of seasoned acts including singers Super Blacks, Michael Dawkins, Billy Congo and Roy ‘Kenneth Culture’ Dayes.
The latter is a founding member of venerable roots-reggae group Culture. He thrilled the audience of locals and tourists with some of the trio’s biggest hits including Money Girl, Two Sevens Clash and Jah Jah See Dem A Come.
Lugg said a follow-up show is scheduled for November.
