Appleton Estate Rum Tour

The inaugural Appleton Estate Rum Tour Appreciation and Awards Dinner was held at the well-appointed White Witch Golf Club on the historic Rose Hall Estate in Montego Bay last Thursday.

The delightful affair honoured outstanding staff members and operators for their expert service on the popular St Elizabeth tour.

Chairman of J Wray and Nephew Ltd, Clement ‘Jimmy’ Lawrence, thanked the staff and tour operators for their many years of sterling service and for making the tour an amazing experience for over 50,000 annual visitors.

Lawrence explained that plans were also well advanced to double the capacity of the attraction to allow the tour to accommodate approximately 100,000 annual visitors. This US$10M expansion would see the tour commencing in Montego Bay as well as the renovation of the railway network from Montego Bay to St Elizabeth.

Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett also thanked the company for their continued investment and support of the Jamaican tourism product.

The evening’s entertainment was expertly handled by DMG Entertainment, whose jazz contemporary acoustics provided the perfect backdrop for a captivating evening.

With guests wined and dined, speeches delivered and the thirteen awards presented, MC Shelly-Ann ‘Phoenix’ Hill declared a close to the formalities and opened the dance floor: naturally, Appleton drink mixes were the tipple of choice !
