Bartlett addresses concerns about management of resort areas
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett says that he has taken note of the concerns expressed by stakeholders about the management of resort areas.
“Stakeholders have complained bitterly about garbage going uncollected, public disorder in some areas and a breakdown in the effective management that is frankly crucial to the continued survival of our tourism industry,” Bartlett told the House of Representatives, yesterday.
He said this is most evident in Negril where, despite an abundance of intelligent, strong and passionate stakeholders, the resort area continues to be plagued by a slew of management issues.
“We have Resort Boards; there have been some successes but we can all agree that there is room for significant improvement,” the minister stated.
