‘Simple Youth’ banks on Sweet Like Honey
COUSINS and emerging producers Michael Millwood and Dwayne Ogilvie of Simple Youth Records are pleased with their latest offering, Sweet Like Honey Rhythm.
Released last week, Sweet Like Honey features fledgling artistes including Krome Steel, Tweedy-Flames, Singjay-Ike, Bralcade, Leo-T, Mb-Classic and Ad-V.
The rhythm is distributed by 21st Hapilos and all digital platforms.
“You will hear diversity on this rhythm and people might compare some of the songs on it with hit songs out there, that’s the level it’s on. I promise, it will have the people moving, that’s for sure and be the buzz for the summer,” said Millwood, 28.
“Everybody can listen and relate to Simple Youth Records music. We deal with all genres of artistes and rhythms,” said 31-year-old Ogilvie.
Started in 2012, Simple Youth Records is based in
St Thomas. However, the first release came out two years after.
In addition to Millwood and Ogilvie, the team comprises Karim Wilkie, DJ Lasco and Tweedy-Flames.
“Karim is the lab person that builds most of the beats with Tweedy-Flames, but Tweedy is the main person that does most of the engineering work. It’s a body that really makes things happen.. Everyone plays their part in the production team,” said Ogilvie.
“We each love music. We want our views, and experience to be part of the music world … It’s not just about businesses and money, we believe we can do it for ourselves. Producers out there are too busy for young talent, so we find it easier to create our stuff and get it out there,” he continued.
The team’s first productions were Ash’s We Can Make Things Better and True Born King by Kulcha Doc. Both were released in March 2014.
“Our next rhythms to be release are Day Light and Sit Up. We working closely new with young artistes, mainly a group name Girls of the Summer, Krome Steel, Ash, our engineer Tweedy Flames, Kareem and DJ Lasco, and we have more to come, so look out,” said Millwood.
