Sneakerz and Jeanz on tonight
FOR tonight’s staging of Magnum Sneakerz and Jeanz, co-promoter Junior ‘Kurt’ Richards expects a bumper crowd.
The event, now in its seventh year, will be held at the Church Pen Community Centre football field in Old Harbour, St Catherine.
“Last year, we had more than 1,600 patrons attending the event. This year we’re aiming for more than 2,000,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
“This is one of the best summer parties outside of Kingston. People look out for it every year and the sponsors have been great. And most importantly, the admission is to just wear your sneakers and jeans.”
According to Richards, who is a mechanic by profession, there’ll be lots of fun and excitement.
“And lots of liquor deals,” he said.
The co-promoter said the idea for the series came about when he realised there were few summer parties outside the Corporate Area.
“I discussed the idea of having the party with my business partner, Khadine Nolan, and the rest is history,” said Richards.
Music for Magnum Sneakerz & Jeanz will be provided by High Tension sound system featuring DJ Chris Cross, Chub Roc and Kyle, Young Money from Global and DJ Galas.
“I would like to use the opportunity to thank the many persons who have supported me throughout the years, as well as my sponsors. Without them, none of this would be possible,” he said.
