U-20 World Champs: James, Bromfield into 400m final
BYDGOSZCZ, Poland — Jamaica will have two representatives in the women’s 400m finals on Thursday – the third day of the IAAF World Under 20 Championships at Zawiszaw stadium in Bydgoszcz, Poland – after Tiffany James and Junelle Bromfield both advanced from their semi-finals today.
James, the national junior champion lowered her month old personal best from 52.06 seconds to a sparkling 51.77 seconds to win her semi-finals in a canter.
Earlier Bromfield was second in her semi-finals heat in 52.18 seconds, behind Australia’s Jessica Thorton who ran a personal best 52.12 seconds.
American Lynna Irby won the other semi-final heat in a season best 51.90 seconds beating Cuba’s Roxana Gomez who ran a personal best 52.26 seconds.
