London Games: Bolt shrugs off cobwebs to win comeback 200 metres
LONDON, United Kingdom (AFP) — Jamaican athletics legend Usain Bolt made a winning return to the track after recovering from a hamstring injury to win the 200 metres at the Diamond League meet on Friday.
The 29-year-old, running at the track where he achieved the individual Olympic sprint double and the 4x100m relay for the second time four years ago in London, eased home ahead of a quality field in a time of 19.89 seconds.
Bolt, who had not run since pulling out of the Jamaican trials last month with a hamstring strain, said he had work to do ahead of the Olympics in Rio next month but was relieved he hadn’t felt a reaction to his injury.
“I’m not fully in shape, I need more work, but I will be fine. The key thing is I came out injury free so that’s the main thing,” Bolt told the BBC.
“I’m going to take my time and work. I tried to go for the kerb and execute and got some positive answers out of it.”
