How to apply for a passport
All passport applications are handled through the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA), an executive agency of the Ministry of National Security.
Passports issued to persons over 18 years of age are valid for 10 years and those issued to persons under 18 years of age are valid for 5 years.
All persons residing in Jamaica who have never held a passport must apply in person at the head office of the Passport Immigration & Citizenship Agency at 25c Constant Spring Road, the regional office in Montego Bay, or other locations as specified by PICA.
The following documents should be submitted for first time applicants:
* A certified application form (forms are available from the PICA offices or from the website, www.pica.gov.jm)
THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR PASSPORT APPLICATION FORMS
* Birth Certificate/Adoption Certificate or Jamaican Citizenship Certificate
* Two (2) identical photographs
(One photograph must be certified by the same official who certified the application)
* A valid Government-issued photo identification
(Driver’s Licence, Voter Identification)
* Proof of name change if name has been changed
(Marriage Certificate, Deed poll, Divorce Decree, Court Order)
* Processing fee
The application fee for an adult passport is $6,500. Expedited services for three days, next or same day are available at an additional cost as follows:

For child passports, the parent or legal guardian is required to obtain and complete an application form for the minor. Along with the application form, the parent or guardian should submit the following documents:
* The child’s Birth Certificate/Adoption Certificate or Jamaican Citizenship Certificate
* Two (2) identical Photographs
(One photograph must be certified by the same official who certified the application)
* A valid Government-issued photo identification or passport for the parent/legal guardian
(Driver’s Licence, Voter Identification)
* Proof of name change if name has been changed
* The parent/legal guardian submitting the application is required to complete sections C and E of the application form.
* Processing fee
To collect your adult passport, return to the PICA office where the application was submitted and have with you the official receipt. If you are collecting for your child (under 18) and you were the parent/legal guardian that applied, you will need to have with you the official receipt and valid photo identification.
