KFC joins in celebrating Jamaica’s ‘Big Deal’ athletes

KFC joins in celebrating Jamaica’s ‘Big Deal’ athletes

While Jamaica’s athletes are expected to be a ‘big deal’ in track and field over the next few days at the Olympic Games in Rio, local franchise holder of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), Restaurants of Jamaica, will be ‘celebrating wi country’ with a finger-licking approach.

The popular food chain, in celebrating the country’s 54th anniversary and our athletes as they make history at the games of the 31st Olympiad, has launched a special #FullAhPride Big Deal box that comes with a free Jamaica ‘Big Deal’ flag with purchase.

The Big Deal combo is made up of three pieces of signature KFC chicken — original, spicy and barbeque — plus fries and a drink. Customers will also have the opportunity to view the games on screen while enjoying their meals at KFC restaurants islandwide.

In addition to that, KFC has already started celebrating the season with the new patriotic and high-energy anthem titled

Jamaica is a BIG DEAL, voiced by its ambassador Christopher Martin.

Andrei Roper, brand manager for KFC Jamaica, explained that the anthem was aimed at highlighting the things that make us Jamaican and proud.

“KFC Jamaica is all about celebrating the pride and passion of the country at this time and we are looking forward to seeing our athletes dominate in a big deal way at the Olympic Games. We know all of Jamaica is excited too and we have continued our partnership with Big Deal boss, Christopher Martin and released a celebratory anthem. The song serves as a reminder of why Jamaicans are ‘likkle but tallawah’,” Roper told the Jamaica Observer.

“Whenever it comes to ‘Emancipendence’ time, Jamaicans are in a constant state of excitement; that, combined with the sporting events, is even more cause for celebration. So we wanted to do something that would take that pride and that passion and reinforce that Jamaica is indeed a big deal,” he added.

Jamaicans are well known for their energy, passion and never-say-die attitude in support of compatriots, even in the face of adversity. This, Roper noted, was the inspiration behind the promotion to offer a Jamaican Big Deal flag, that also serves as multifunctional headwear, with the limited edition Jamaica box.

Fans visiting the KFC Jamaica social media platforms are also offered the chance to win Jamaica Big Deal giveaways during the summer games.

“You can show your pride any way you want. Wave your flag or wear it, and show your support. Our fan bucket is also available and is perfect for friends and families watching the games. The fan bucket comes with seven pieces of chicken, 12 wings, two large fries, and one 2-litre soda,” Roper pointed out.

The Jamaican charge in the South American country is being led by the incomparable Usain Bolt — who is eyeing another triple-triple to cement his legendary status ahead of retirement — and the ‘Pocket Rocket’, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who is seeking to win three straight individual titles at the Summer Games in the 100 metres.

The performances of a number of young and promising stars will also be on the radar, and Roper is expecting the athletes to get the job done in emphatic fashion.

“We know that Team Jamaica will give of their best, and time and time again they have proven that their best is also the best in the world. So for Rio, we are expecting #BigDealBizniz, and we stand behind the team all the way,” he ended.
