Praj-X hoping for his big break
BUDDING dancehall artiste Praj-X is hoping his latest single Wah Duh Mi will give him his big break.
Produced by Problem Records, the singjay said the song should be a dancehall hit based on the positive reaction by the females in his Coburn Gardens community.
“It’s about how the females behave whenever they are in a dancehall session and hear their favourite song. So far, it take off well and the selectors and females are running with it. It is on a rhythm that just make you want to dance…it just have a ‘bag’ of energy and vibe,” he said.
Wha Duh Mi was released in July.
“I really want it to make an impact on dancehall. I hope it will highlight and give me the break I am seeking. It’s not about winning the Grammys or so on, I just want to be recognised for the work that I am putting in,” he said.
Praj-X, whose given name is Peter Porter, was born in May Pen, Clarendon. He spent his earlier years in Manchester before relocating to Coburn Gardens in Kingston 11.
The singjay said he discovered his talent while attending Bellefield High School in Manchester. With encouragement from family and friends, he followed his dream.
In 2012 he released his debut single called Room. This was followed by other songs including Tell Me Why, Bruk, Mi Waan Di Buss and Brawling.
