Scotiabank ‘A’, ATL win in Business House Senior League
DEFENDING champions Scotiabank ‘A’ and Appliance Traders Limited (ATL) won their opening matches as the 2016 Business House Netball Association (BHNA) Senior League got underway at the Leila Robinson Courts last Saturday.
The Winston Nevers-coached Scotiabank ‘A’ defeated National Housing Trust (NHT) ‘A’ 44-34, while the Sasher-Gaye Henry-coached ATL pulled off an exciting and thrilling 43-42 win over Scotiabank ‘B’.
Scotiabank ‘A’ won the best-of-three finals by defeating General Accident 2-0 to capture the Senior League title. General Accident, who won the Open League title last year, will not participate in the competition this year.
Meanwhile, with only six teams in the Senior League competition, they will be playing each other twice. At the end of the preliminary round, the winner will advance to the final, while the third-placed team will play the team fourth-placed, and the winner from this match will play the second-placed for a berth in the final.
In the Intermediate ‘A’ competition, GraceKennedy got the better of Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) 46-44, while in the Intermediate ‘B’, RJR/Gleaner defeated FLOW Jamaica 31-23 and Hardware and Lumber beat JMMB Merchant Bank 33-26.
Meanwhile, AEROTEL/Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority (JAAA) beat Sagicor Life ‘B’ 24-18; Continental Baking Company (CBC) beat Stewart Automobile 22-10; Cari-Med cruised past Financial Service Commission (FSC) 36-7 and Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica (PCJ) got past WISYNCO ‘B’ 23-20 in the Junior League.
The Division League continues on Saturday, beginning at 4:15 pm.
