RSPL ad campaign to feature players gets thumbs up
With the first game of the season set for Sunday, September 4, the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) is back and better than ever.
Amidst the excitement of the first match-up, Red Stripe and the Premier League Clubs Association (PLCA) are launching a new advertising campaign to highlight some of RSPL’s biggest champions.
This will be the first time that the RSPL has featured players in this way. The television commercials and press ads, which were shot by Gareth Cobran and William Richards, respectively, will showcase players from all 12 clubs under the theme ‘Every Champion Deserves a Trophy’.
“RSPL is the topflight league in Jamaica,” said Roshane Smith, attacking midfielder for UWI FC. “It’s a tremendous feeling to be a part of this ad with Red Stripe and the PLCA.”
The call for greater promotion of the individual players is in alignment with Red Stripe’s long-standing Player Development Programme, in which the beer brand attempts to create more opportunities for growth and leadership development among the players.
“When the fans see Red Stripe doing these things to make us more professional, they will appreciate it,” said Kirk Porter, Boys’ Town FC goalkeeper. “It gives us a boost in the league and pushes us to do more for the sponsors and fans.”
Other players featured include Arnett Gardens central defender Oneil ‘Bigga’ Thompson, Portmore United’s Tremaine Stewart, Andrew Peddlar of Maverley-Hughenden, and Dwayne Ambusely of Montego Bay United.
Fans can look forward to the commercials on TVJ and Sportsmax beginning tomorrow. In addition, Red Stripe has a host of activities planned to promote the talented players, including social media features on the individual players.
The beer brand is also adding an RSPL tab on its newly revamped website, www.redstripebeer.com, which is slated to be launched on Friday, September 9.
