Bay-C swinging in Germany
Rude Gyal Swing, a collaborative effort between former TOK member Bay-C and African singer Treesha, has topped the MTV Urban Chart in Germany. The song has been on the chart for the past six weeks.
“I am excited beyond words. This is a huge milestone in my solo career and this proves that there’s life after TOK,” Bay-C told the Jamaica Observer via telephone from Barbados yesterday.
Rude Gyal Swing was recorded in April of this year. It is produced by Germany-based producers DeeBuzz and Hard2Def. The single is a mix of electronic dance music (EDM) fused with dancehall.
Bay-C explained how he got involved in the project.
“One of the producers, DeeBuzz reached out to me. They had the song already and wanted a bad dancehall artiste on it, so they linked Bay-C,” he said.
The singjay earned a new legion of fans when he toured Germany in May promoting his Better Must Come EP.
“My solo music was very well-received throughout the Better Must Come European tour and I’m sure that with a number one single on the charts, it will only grow the Bay-C fan base and brand there,” he added.
Bunx and Galang featuring dancers Shady Squad; Eye for an Eye and Love You, featuring Panamanian singer Lorna are among his latest releases.
Bay-C (real name Roshaun Clarke) was a member of the all-male dancehall quartet TOK for almost two decades. The group disbanded last year.
