Leading automotive company ATL Automotive’s Petrena Purser has made great strides in her career in the automotive industry: from a sales consultant’s assistant to sales manager, and now to the top of the pack as newly appointed head of business, ATL Automotive West.

In this male-dominated industry, Purser had her eyes set on the prize from an early age as a young girl in St Mary, being fully captivated by cars and everything about them. Growing up, she knew from the get-go she wanted to not only be a car saleswoman, but to be the best car saleswoman in Jamaica.

Upon joining the ATL family at Honda in 1999 as brand manager, she immediately jolted sales with her customer service-oriented attitude to always go above and beyond for the customer, resulting in Honda receiving the Highest Sales Volume award for the right-hand-drive market and highest market share in the Latin American and Caribbean region. Her prize was the opportunity to dine with then Honda CEO Takuji Yamada in Texas, an experience she described as surreal.

As ATL Automotive expanded upon securing the local dealership for Volkswagen Jamaica, Purser joined the team as sales controller in 2013. With her magic touch, Volkswagen sales catapulted to become the highest-selling German brand in the Jamaican market.

Now as head of business for ATL Automotive West, Purser has oversight for all brands to include Honda, Volkswagen, Audi, BMW and MINI, a role she describes as her perfect job.
