St James CA/TEF T20 champs to be known Sunday
MONTEGO BAY, St James — The champions of the St James Cricket Association’s Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) T20 cricket competition will be decided on Sunday at Barnett Oval following Saturday’s semi-finals at the same venue.
After last weekend’s quarterfinals, Farms Heights and Rose Heights will meet in the first semi-final game on Saturday, starting at 10:00am, followed by Elgin Town against Gutters, set to start at 2:00pm.
The winners will then meet on Sunday in a 40 overs game to decide the champions.
Last Saturday, Gutters beat Police by three wickets and Elgin Town got by Full 100 on faster run rate in a rain-shortened game; while on Sunday Rose Heights beat Green Pond by seven wickets, while Farm Heights beat Orange by 38 runs.
In a match reduced to 18 overs, Police were sent to bat first on Saturday and were all out for 83 in 15.5 overs with Clive Hunt top scoring with 16 runs against Sandre Wilson’s three wickets for 16 runs and Tremaine Robinson who took two wickets for 22 runs.
In response Gutters made 84 for seven as Jose Glovers led the run chase with 46 runs. Rajaun Ford took three wickets for 17 runs and Gregory Ferguson took two wickets for five runs.
After winning the toss and batting first, Full 100 made 133 for nine in their game against Elgin Town who were on 84 for two from 10.3 overs when the game was called off due to rain
Rose Heights bowled out Green Pond for 69 in 14 overs as Randy Brown took seven wickets for seven runs, then easily got to 70 for three with Everett Taylor making an undefeated 28 runs.
Farm Heights won the toss in their game and elected to bat, making 125 all out then bowled out Orange for 87 runs.
