Digicel’s acquisition of TRES Networks approved
Digicel Group has received the required approvals from the Government and regulatory authorities for the purchase of TRES Networks in Curacao, and is now moving swiftly to complete the transaction.
“This is an exciting time for Digicel Curacao and TRES Networks, as together we are better positioned to serve our customers,” said John Suranyi, CEO of Digicel Play – Caribbean and Central America in a recent news release.
“As always, our emphasis is on ensuring that our customers benefit from the best services and the latest innovation, so we are looking forward to forging ahead with plans to expand our suite of products and services for our customers in Curacao.”
TRES Networks is a fixed and international long-distance telecommunications operator and distributor of digital television and entertainment services. The deal will allow residential and business customers to access high-speed internet, voice and digital services. Additionally, TRES Networks supports Digicel’s ongoing focus on helping customers compete by delivering them the most advanced business solutions, a release from the company said.
In response to the acquisition, CEO of TRES Networks Frank de Fremery said the company is excited about joining the Digicel team, as it will allow TRES Networks to move forward with plans to extend the Fibre-To-The-Home (FTTH) network to other neighbourhoods on the island.
Digicel’s Suranyi said the company is already investing heavily in increasing the capacity of its service as Digicel continues to evolve into a total communications and entertainment provider.
“The acquisition of TRES Networks will provide the framework to broaden that even further — growing our business, creating more jobs and investing in the future of Curacao’s communications industry,” he stated.
