KINGSTON, Jamaica (JIS) – The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) has released the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) results for Penwood High and other schools impacted by the non-submission of school-based assessments (SBAs) for the 2015/16 examination cycle.

This was announced by Minister of Education, Youth and Information, Senator Ruel Reid, at a post-Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House, today.

Senator Reid said the hard copies of the results were delivered to the Overseas Examinations Commission on Monday, and arrangements are being made to have affected schools collect them.

“In the meanwhile, we have asked CXC to provide us with soft copies of the results, so we will be able to audit for any possible omissions,” he said.

The minister said 131 students from Penwood High had not received grades for Principles of Business, Office Administration, Economics, Theatre Arts, and Social Studies.

Twenty-seven students from the Portmore Community College were also affected for Principles of Accounts and Social Studies, while 26 were from Haile Sellasie High School in Office Administration and Principles of Business.

Manning’s Evening School also had 118 students who had been affected in Economics, Office Administration, Principles of Business, Information Technology, and Social Studies, while the St. Vincent Strambie Catholic School in St Elizabeth had 28 students not receiving grades for Principles of Accounts, Principles of Business, and Social Studies.

Senator Reid said the Ministry has established a monitoring mechanism, or a dashboard, which will track student registration information for overseas examinations.

He said this will help identify any anomalies between registration information locally and CXC results.
