Peak Bottling, Seprod, Jamaica Broilers score wins in Business House 5-a-side football

Seprod Limited and Jamaica Broilers were crowned champions of Division One and Division Two of the 2016 Business House Five-a-Side football competitions at NWC playing field, Mona, recently.

In the Cablepro Data Services-sponsored knockout final, Peak Bottling Company defeated Kingston Bookshop 2-0 in a penalty shoot-out after both teams played to a 0-0 full and extra time draw.

Andre Wheeler and Jermaine Savage scored their spot kicks. Troylan Williams of Peak Bottling was the kockout leading goal scorer with eight goals. Peak Bottling received $30,000, while Kingston Bookshop received $15,000 for second place.

The MVP and leading goalscorer received $10,500 each and a pair of football boots valued at $12,000 from Cablepro Data Services.

The Division Two final was contested by Seprod Limited, who were demoted from Division One in 2015, and Creative Building Finishes who were playing in their second season. The game was a competitive one and ended 0-0 in full time, and went to extra time. Seprod took the lead in 51st minute when Zantal Giscombe beat goalkeeper Emile Francis from close range. Andre Allen made it 2 -0 in the 59th minute when he turned and beat defenders Carey Powell and Carl Foster and shot powerfully past Francis to win their first five-a-side title.

Deshawn Williams of Prime Sports was the Division Two leading goalscorer with 18 goals. Both MVP and leading goalscorer received $3,500 each and a pair of football boots valued at $12,000 from Western Sports. Seprod Limited also received $40,000 and Creative Building Finishes, $20,000.

The Division One final saw knockout champions Peak Bottling going for their second Business House title against Jamaica Broilers. The game started at a fast pace, with Jamaica Broilers being very aggressive on the ball and not allowing Peak Bottling to settle. Troylan Williams was marked tightly and was continuously being fouled by Jamaica Broilers players. Andre Wheeler, David Smith and Jermaine Savage were also denied from scoring by brilliant goalkeeping from Oliver Grant.

Jamaica Broilers took the lead in the 18th minute, as perfectly taken corner kick by Marvin Mills was headed into the goal by Leighton Matthews. The final was over in the 48th minute when a counter-attack by Jamaica Broilers saw Chauncey Delahaye’s pass being tapped into an empty goal by Jevon Angel. This was Jamaica Broilers’ fourth Division One title, but their first since 2002.

Troylan Williams won the Division One leading goalscorer award with 12 goals. Jamaica Broilers goalkeeper Oliver Grant was the Division One MVP. The MVP and leading goalscorer received $3,500 each and a pair of football boots valued at $12,000 from Western Sports.

Jamaica Broilers received $60,000 and Peak Bottling Company, $30,000. Ralston Morgan and Dwight Angus of Jamaica Broilers were the manager and coach for the year, while disciplinary committee members Brian Rose and Davis Henry were recognised for their service by the Business House Football Association with gift certificates from Western Sports.

Finals referees Wayne Brown and Alphonso Daley were also given awards. The Fair Play/Most Disciplined Team award was won by Prime Sports.
