Hempress Sativa drops Fight For Your Rights
TO coincide with the 86th anniversary of the coronation HIM Haile Selassie I and Empress Menen of Ethiopia, reggae singer Hempress Sativa released her latest single, Fight For Your Rights on Wednesday.
Produced by Conquering Lion Records, the single is being distributed by Zojak World Wide.
“In a time when few are courageous enough to speak up and out about the varying injustices experienced by people of African descent around the world, it is truly an honour to introduce
Fight For Your Rights… a chant for us to reclaim integrity and pride through self-knowledge and love, that we may be proud of our skin and our royal heritage,” said Hempress Sativa.
She expounded on the importance of skin colour.
“Some will say they don’t see colour, so I guess they don’t see the radiant sunshine that blesses the days, nor the luscious green trees that soak up the light, releasing vapour and oxygen. Colour is inevitably important so why then when it comes to the human skin pigmentation, in order to sweep under the rug and dispel one’s experience, they emphasise that colour doesn’t matter? Well, it does, and we should accept and respect one another for our differences as created by the Most High,” she said.
Performing since age 13, Hempress Sativa is known for tracks including Songs Like Judgement, Freedom, andHeathens Wage.
