Omari Banks pitches
Anguillian singer Omari Banks takes another crack at the Jamaican market with Naturally, a lovers rock song he did with producer Clive Hunt.
Naturally was released digitally last week. It is the former West Indies cricketer’s second release in Jamaica in four months;System Set, an anti-racism song, came out in July.
Banks, 35, wanted to show a different dimension with
Naturally.
“I’ve always had different sides to my songwriting. I’m socially aware and I’m a lover,” he said. “This song showcases my softer side, which is also very present in my past work.”
Hunt has had a prolific 2016, working on Jimmy Cliff’s new album and a Dennis Brown tribute set.
Naturally was recorded at Cliff’s Kingston studio with trumpeter Dwight Richards, trombonist Nambo Robinson, saxophonist Dean Fraser, Sean Dawson on drums and bassist Mikey Fletcher.
“Clive did the horn arrangements on the track…He did a great job.. I had a great time working along with him,” said Banks, who played 10 Tests for the West Indies as an all-rounder.
The self-produced
System Set andNaturally will be part of Banks’s second album, scheduled for release in early 2017.
His first album,
Move On, came out in 2015. He also toured Europe with Morgan Heritage.
