Motorcyclist arrested after hit and run
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – Six-year-old Antan Reid of Friendship district, Westmoreland died from injuries he received after he was hit by a motorcycle in his community on Thursday, November 10.
Reports are that about 4:50 pm a motorcyclist was driving along the roadway in the district when young Reid allegedly attempted to cross the road and was hit. Reid was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the motorcycle, identified as 23-year-old Oshane Cooper, also of Friendship District, was taken into custody and charged with unlicensed motor vehicle, no driver’s licence, no insurance coverage, no helmet and no registration plate affixed.
The police say that he is scheduled to appear before the Savanna-la-mar Parish Court on Friday, November 18.
