Forde goes back to the roots
Music producer Jermaine Forde is looking to make an impact in Jamaica in 2017. One of his first projects is a rhythm with singjay Bugle’s An9ted label.
The beat will have songs by Bugle, Tarrus Riley, Sizzla, and Assassin. It is played by the Ras Ites Band from England.
“We are trying some different rhythms that [are] solid and positive. This rhythm samples Back To Africa by Aswad, so that’s where we’re looking,” said Forde.
Forde’s father, singer/guitarist Brinsley Forde, was a co-founder of Aswad, a successful British band that had a number of hits in the 1970s to 1990s.
Most of the London-based Forde’s songs, recorded by artistes such as onesty and Swade, are done for Ajang Productions.
