Mayberry Investments Assistant VP, Marketing Anika Smith-Jengelley has had an eventful year. She gave birth to her first child, a daughter Isabelle, and tied the knot with physician and surgeon Dr Warren Jengelley. We clink short tumblers and get cosy… there’s lots to catch up on.
What’s your favourite sip?
A gin and tonic.
Who keeps you inspired?
I’m fortunate to have a few inspirations in my life, but I’m going to say my mother who taught me much of what I know about being independent, having a great work ethic, giving back, and persevering when life throws me curveballs.
Where do you go to reset your buttons?
To the beach. I like the peace and serenity of the water; it relaxes me.
What do you consider the ultimate in investment pieces?
For me, those would be a nice watch, a pair of diamond earrings, a quality handbag and dressy shoes. I think every lady could do well with those.If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Stop thinking of getting rich quick and think of financial success as a steady, consistent process.Yes and no. Some forms of investments truly are a gamble, in that the risk is great and so are the rewards. However, there are also many other forms of investing that are measured, low-risk and whose outcome can be accurately predicted. The beauty of it is that there are options out there for all of us and we just need to be educated about them.I actually see my job title only as significant as the company I’m working for, really. I was a Mayberry client before I went to work there because I saw it as sophisticated, smart and innovative, which is how I’d describe my personal brand.My trips abroad. I have no problem getting up and going somewhere I’ve never been before and have no idea how the people there live. That experience can either go horribly wrong or become a lifetime highlight.I’m always trying to avoid breakouts; so for my face, I always have Aveeno Positively Radiant Scrub, make-up remover wipes, MAC Cosmetics Oil-Free moisturizer, Bobbi Brown Longwear Compact foundation, and MAC Cosmetics lip gloss.
