Ras Zacharri draws on Reggae Roots
Singjay Ras Zacharri teams with two generations of roots reggae on his new songs, Jah We Stand and One By One.
The former is a collaboration with neo-roots singer Lutan Fyah, while One By One was done with 1970s stalwart Horace Andy.
A nephew of Buju Banton, Ras Zacharri became familiar with many artistes largely through his famous relative.
“I can say he’s (Buju Banton) easily my biggest influence. Seeing him working in the studio on various material inspired me. All the artistes that were before me play a great part also,” he said.
His first recording, Iris Moss, was released in 2000 by Stumpy Productions.
For the past 18 months Ras Zacharri has stepped up his live game with appearances on shows like Stop The Violence Tour with the Kasha Rootz Band.
