Khalilah Rose adds flavour to Silk’s track
PLACE in Your Heart is one of roots icon Garnet Silk’s biggest hits. Recently, Khalilah Rose put an acoustic spin on the 1992 song.
“Garnet Silk is one of my greatest musical inspirations; he’s made a tremendous impact on me as an artiste. I love his music a lot and Place In Your Heart has always been one of my favourite songs,” said Khalilah Rose.
Interestingly, her version is produced by Calibud Music owned by Sheldon Stewart, whose stepfather Bobby ‘Bobby Digital’ Dixon, produced the original.
Khalilah Rose said the team at Calibud suggested she do the song after hearing her perform it at Rebel Salute this year.
A video for Place In Your Heart, directed by Wayne South of Caution Films, will be released in early 2017.
Garnet Silk, an influential member of the roots reggae movement of the early 1990s, died in December 1994 at age 28.
