On the Occasion of Civil Service Week 2016

I join the nation in celebrating our public servants who through their daily functions in the various departments, ministries and agencies of government have been key partners in national development.

This year’s celebration appropriately themed, “Driving Change: Celebrating Excellence in a transformed Public Sector”, underscores the importance of using best practices to drive efficiency and effectiveness in the public sector. To move the nation forward on a trajectory to strong economic growth, it is extremely significant that our hardworking civil servants operate in a framework that facilitates effectiveness and competitiveness.

That is why my government supports wholeheartedly the public sector modernization programme, designed to address public sector efficiency and enhance the environment to facilitate ease of doing business which is critical to achieving economic growth and job creation.

As we celebrate Civil Service Week, November 20 to 26, I express sincere gratitude to the men and women who consistently give their best service. I encourage you to remain focused and motivated.

To all those who will be awarded, I commend you for your hard work and tenacity. May this award serve as encouragement and motivation as you continue to contribute to the positive development of your country.

God bless you all.

Hon. Andrew Holness, ON, MP

Prime Minister
