ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica – A teenager who was taken into custody after he was found in possession of two firearms and several rounds of ammunition during an operation in Wonstead district, St Elizabeth on Tuesday, has been charged under the Firearms Act.
The 19-year-old was charged for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition and is scheduled to appear before the St Elizabeth Parish Court in January 2017.
Reports are that about 11:00 am on December 13, a man who was driving a motorcycle was signalled to stop. He was searched and a knapsack he was carrying was also searched and two firearms — a Berretta 9mm pistol and a Smith and Wesson .38 revolver — along with eleven 9mm rounds of ammunition were allegedly found.
The police say his identity is being withheld pending further investigations.
He is to face several identification parades as he is suspected in a number of robberies in the Junction and Santa Cruz areas involving men on motorcycles.
